On March 2, at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles, the 97th Academy Awards, better known as the Oscars, were held. The night had many exciting aspects throughout, such as heartfelt speeches, comedic bits, and the highly discussed “Anora sweep.” However, what really stood out about the night was the incredible fashion choices, with celebrities decked out in Dior, Chanel, and Bulgari. So without further ado, here are the top five looks, and who is more qualified to determine such a matter than a Morro Bay High School student who still thinks crocs are cool?

One highly discussed outfit was “Anora” star Mikey Madison, who would go on to win Best Actress, who made her appearance in a custom Christian Dior Haute Couture strapless gown with a black bodice and ballerina pink skirt adorned with a bow. The look was topped off with a statement Tiffany & Co. necklace. The outfit screamed classic Hollywood glamour, with Madison’s slickback resembling the elegance of a young Audrey Hepburn. The outfit was classic, yet that was one of the most incredible aspects of the gown, simply that it wasn’t trying too hard to be outside of the box.

Lily-Rose Depp wore an eye-catching custom black floral lace halter dress by Chanel. The monochrome moment had about 191,000 embroidery elements, including black sequins, crystals and pearls, and was featured with Chanel diamond jewelry. The dress on its own was stunning, but it was fairly simple. However, its simplicity was made up for by Depp’s pin-up style hair and bronze-chic makeup, making the look one of the most notable.

Lupita Nyong'o, who stars in Best Animated Feature nominee “Wild Robot,” sparkled in a custom Chanel ivory dress accessorized with over 22,000 embroidery elements. The corset-like aspect of this stunning dress is what really stuck out about the gown, along with the pearl straps which added a mystic and whimsical element to the gown, making the beautiful Nyong’o look more magical that she already does on the regular.

“The Substance” star Margaret Qualley wore a black velvet custom Chanel gown including an open back feature, a dangling tassel from a Chanel diamond necklace. Qually looked unbelievably glamorous and, like Anora star, Mikey Madison, resembled the effortless elegance of old Hollywood. The dress was otherwise basic, but this was made up for by the incredible jewelry statement, as well as the multi-bun hairstyle, out of Qualley’s face, able to highlight her flawless makeup, especially her bold, burgundy lip.

BLACKPINK's Lisa, set to perform at the award ceremony, came in a suit and gown combo, featuring an elongated black jacket and white dress shirt. The James Bond-inspired look was designed by Markgong and completed with Bulgari jewelry and elaborate nail art. The endogenous aspect of this look was what made it so special, as well as its black tie simplicity. The red flower brooch was a nice touch, highlighting the classic and sleek appeal of the look.

Overall, the 2025 Oscars had many stylish celebrities, with dozens of notable figures adorned in designer, posing on the red-carpet, but these five were truly on a tier of their own.
