Season 2 of Arcane Premieres on Netflix
On Nov. 9, 2023, Riot Games announced the second season of their animated series, Arcane. Since then, the internet has been occupied with a constant storm of fan theories, teaser trailers, and leaked images. All of this anticipation boiled over on Nov. 9, 2024, when act one of the second season finally released.
Along with the new season, a new soundtrack released, featuring many recognizable artists. Some tracks include, “Paint the Town Blue” by Ashnikko, “Sucker” featuring Marcus King, “Isha’s Song” by Eason Chan, and “Blood Sweat & Tears” by Sheryl Lee Ralph. Many of these songs include music videos in the chaotic and artsy style of Arcane. With unique costuming and electronic sound, each of these tracks reflect the intimidating steampunk vibe of Arcane.
Additionally, the video game Arcane was based off of, “League of Legends,” is celebrating the premiere with a new in-game event titled, “Jinx Fixes Everything.” The event follows one of the protagonists of the series, Jinx, who is also a playable character in “League of Legends,” in her psychotic and impulsive decisions. The event offers many rewards including in-game currency and cosmetic skins that resemble the character’s designs in the show. A new character who originated in Arcane, Ambessa, was added into the game’s roster of champions.
This inclusion leads fans to speculate as to what role Ambessa will play in the new season, as she was becoming one of the main antagonists in the finale of season one. Ambessa’s role is not the only matter up for debate among fans. After watching act one, many are debating the relationships between characters such as Caitlyn and Vi, the agenda of silent antagonist, Singed, and what ending awaits the characters. As this will be the final season of Arcane, it’s sure to be full of more twists, turns, tears, and explosions.
