A Look Into the 2025 Super Bowl
Sunday, Feb. 9 the 2025 Super Bowl took place. The Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles gained their second Super Bowl with a whopping score of 40-22. The Super Bowl was held at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. Statistics say that the game had a record breaking audience with over 126 million viewers across many viewing platforms such as Fox, Tubi and many NFL platforms.
By the end of the first half, the Eagles were ahead with a score of 24-0. The Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 17 of 22 passes for 221 yards and scored two touchdowns. With the effort he put in, Hurts earned a Super Bowl MVP award, and in total he rushed for 72 yards. The Chiefs did not start strong this year, making it harder for them to catch up. Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs quarterback, put in his all, although the Eagles defense was coordinated in such a difficult way Mahomes was not able to do much. The Eagles set a defense record forcing multiple turnovers and many interceptions. The Chiefs were on a historic winning streak of two Super Bowls in a row and this could have been their third, but the Eagles took them down.
The halftime show featured a performance by Kendirck Lamar and had appearances from Serena Williams and Samuel Jackson. Lamar performed many songs such as “Not Like Us” which sparked controversy among many because of the diss among the popular artist Drake. SZA was a special guest that got to sing “Luther” as well as “All The Stars” with Lamar. The performance was to help showcase Lamar's history with his newest album showcasing the fame over Black identity and overall culture.
The 2025 Super Bowl was not only a huge celebration of the Philadelphia Eagles securing their win against the Kansas City chiefs but also for its record of viewers. Both teams had outstanding performances and both fought their hardest. The 2025 Super Bowl will be remembered by its huge audience as well as talented sports performances.
