In stunt games there are four quarters starting off with partner stunts then group pyramids and the third quarter being tumbling and lastly a group performance. So far this season of stunt has not been going very well, the team only has 11 girls which is barely enough for a whole team, while most schools the girls compete against have around 15-30 girls. Stunt did not have a pre-season, so stunt officially started practices and games in early March. The stunt season is short with there only being eight games throughout the whole season, so the girls have to work extra hard to stay on top of everything.
If the team exceeds the judge’s expectations or hits their pyramid with no errors they will receive a point. So far the team unfortunately has not scored any points, and with there being barely enough girls to make a whole team, it is very difficult to stunt. The girls had their first game against Paso Robles on March 12, in which the girls tried their hardest although did not end up scoring any points, resulting in Paso Robles taking the win. The team’s most recent game was against SLO on April 16, and MBHS ended up taking home their sixth loss of the season.
MBHS freshman Eva Faust said, “This is my first year doing stunt and I have enjoyed it a lot, although we have not started off strong I am hoping we can end strong.” The team is made up of mostly freshmen with only six sophomores on the team. Georgia Hughes and Tobias Emeterio are the 2025 stunt team captains who both started stunting their freshmen year. When asking girls on the team about how they have grown, they had mentioned how everybody has improved majorly from the beginning of the season.
The head coach, Alyssa Kues is new to the team as last year was her first year coaching stunt at MBHS. The assistant coach, Cheyenne Rosenlieb, has never taught stunt before. The coaches are still adjusting to coaching a new change, and they have been trying their best throughout the season. Although the season has not been going well, the team's chemistry and sportsmanship has stayed strong. The girls hope for at least one win in their last two games of the season.
