Dance Fusion Performs Their 24th Annual Show
Dance Fusion finished their 24th annual spring performance. The show occurred on Thursday and Friday, March 6-7. For only the second time in the group's history, they performed on MBHS' new theater stage. The group has made a successful transition from performing in the gym to performing on a real stage for the second year. The performance was open to the public, as well as to students. Two different schools participated, each doing their own act. Del Mar Elementary School students performed on Thursday evening. Later, on Friday evening, Monarch Grove Elementary School performed their piece. This way, each audience had its own, unique production.
There were MBHS singers and musicians performing in the show as well, bringing a variety of bands, duets, and solos. Senior Jamison Winstead said, “My band and I performed ‘Fell in Love with a Girl’ by The White Stripes, ‘Pink Pony Club’ by Chappell Roan, and ‘House of the Rising Son’ and ‘Where’s my Mind' by The Pixies.” Winstead’s band name is still in the works, but they currently go by “The Big Highway.” The band members are seniors, Hayden Harpster, Hunter Wilson, and Winstead himself.
The Fusion Dancers performed many different types of music and dance styles. Junior Bridget O’Leary said, “There’s hip hop, musical theatre, and there was also contemporary/lyrical jazz stuff.” The performers had different lighting for each different dance style, as well as different outfits. In addition, each performance had its own energy and color scheme. There were many fun and vibrant outfits as well as dark and moody outfits. The colors went along with the song's meaning and lyrics to add Dance Fusion’s own touch.
Their 24th annual performance was very entertaining and filled with extremely talented students from our local community. From the high school students, to the elementary students, this performance was filled with talent and showed a lot of commitment and dedication. There will be more to come in the future from Dance Fusion, and the dancer’s futures are all looking very bright.
