May 29, 2025As the end of the year approaches, freshmen have almost completed their first year of high school, while the seniors are nearing the end of their high school career. This year, the freshmen have gone to many school dances such as homecoming, winter formal, and the neon dance. They have also been able to participate in school clubs such as Drama Club, Dance Fusion, Surf Club, and Mock Trial. “Overall I enjoyed my freshman year of high school,” freshman Loraine Chaney said, “But I think that it’ll be weird when we are not freshmen anymore.”
This year’s freshmen have been involved with many sports, with nearly every sport getting at least one new freshman on the team. “I really enjoyed being a part of cheer, even though it’s not a sport, but I also do enjoy being a part of stunt cheer as well,” Chaney said. “I enjoyed telling people that I’m a freshman on varsity.” Overall, freshmen enjoyed joining different sports and the dynamics of each. Freshman Willow Andreano said, “I thought it was really cool to win CIF for water polo, and I’m excited for next year.”
Besides sports, there were many other activities going on during the school year, such as dances and Drama Club performances. “I really enjoyed the school dances, I think that they were really fun to be with your friends,” Freshman Ayaan Patel said. “They were well decorated and the DJs were good.” The Drama Club has had many different shows, including “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” the “Mean Girls” Miscast, and “Little Shop of Horrors.” Many freshmen were in the shows and attended. “I really liked seeing my brother as Regina George, and I thought it was really funny,” freshman Nora Wilson said, after she watched her older brother, Hunter Wilson, perform in the “Mean Girls” Miscast.
This year has been very memorable and the freshmen have had an amazing first year of high school, and they are looking forward to the years to come. Some state that they are nervous for next year, but many are still excited for the many dances and sports games to come.
