MBHS Annual Club Rush

With the new school year kicking off, there's a thrilling energy in the air as students eagerly dive into a variety of clubs and afterschool activities. The hallways buzz with excitement, laughter, and the sound of new friendships forming as students explore opportunities that extend beyond the classroom. From the imaginative vibes of the Creative Writing Club, where budding authors weave tales of fantasy and adventure, to the tactical fun of Mock Trial, where aspiring lawyers sharpen their skills in the courtroom, there’s truly a little something for everyone. These clubs not only provide a platform for students to connect with new friends, but also serve as a space for them to discover and nurture new interests and talents.

“It’s for people who like to write, like to read, and for people who like to be creative and for people who like to tell stories,” said junior Abby Ryan, the founder of the Creative Writing Club. Ryan passionately emphasized that this club serves as an ideal haven for students who have a deep appreciation for both reading and writing. She believes that it provides an opportunity for individuals to immerse themselves in the world of literature while also discovering their own writing skills. The club fosters an environment where members can explore various genres, experiment with different styles, and share their creative works without fear of judgment. Ryan highlighted that the Creative Writing Club is not just about improving skills; it is also a space where students can express themselves freely and authentically through their writing. By encouraging open dialogue and collaboration, the club aims to inspire creativity and build a supportive community of aspiring writers who can learn from one another and grow together in their literary journeys.

“I think this club is just a great place to be on campus,” said junior Maggie Appel, an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Club, a vibrant community dedicated to fostering spiritual growth among athletes. The FCA Club serves as a supportive environment where individuals who share a passion for sports can come together to deepen their faith and encourage one another in their personal and athletic journeys. The club emphasizes the importance of character, integrity, and teamwork, encouraging members to be role models both on and off the field.

These two clubs have clearly illustrated that individuals have the option to either establish their own club from the ground up, allowing them to create a space that reflects their unique interests and goals, or to join an already established club that aligns with their passions and values. This flexibility empowers people to take initiative and leadership by forming new communities to make new connections and to make lasting memories.
