MBHS had a spectacular Neon Dance this year and a great turnout. Teens from every grade were together having the best time and connected with each other. From the dance floor to the famous drink stand, there were only uplifting vibes.

This was MBHS’s first Neon Dance with student DJs, DJ Gazelle (Junior Aesa Vidati) and DJ Nulk (Junior Anders Schuerfeld). It couldn’t have gone better for them. The crowd was pumped and excited about all the songs that were played; certain songs even made the crowd sing along. The dance floor had many different types of songs, ranging from “Like a G6,” by Far East Movement to “Not Like Us,” by Kendrick Lamar. The DJs hit the jackpot with the crowd and their song choices.

ASB worked hard on this dance for a while and when it came down to the night of the dance itself, all that hard work had paid off. Senior Lucy Fortini described how the non-formal element of this dance makes it less nerve racking for students to attend: “I think that being a non-formal dance for everyone to be themselves at and not have a date or be nervous that no one’s going to ask them to a dance. I think that’s what makes it the best dance of the year, it’s more you go with your friends, you get ready together, there’s no slow songs, so it’s upbeat the whole time, and there’s always something fun.”  Senior Zahira Segler said, “It’s going to have lots of color, lots of feathers and it’s going to be super exciting. The seniors are working really hard because it’s our last Neon Dance and we really want to go out with a bang. I think the theme is wonderful and I'm so excited for our student DJs.”

The dance was themed “When in Rio” and the whole dance was put together so perfectly. Segler also said, “This dance is known as the best because it’s like an all out party, less formal, you can sorta get to wear whatever you want. Not many people wear dresses, it’s more just fun and exciting. There’s no pressure to have dates, like homecoming and winter formal, so for our last school dance it really makes it exciting.” It was very bright and had a lot of entertainment, like live DJs, the famous drink stand, and the 360 photo booth.

The Neon Dance is known to be the best dance of the year due to the creativity of the dance and for it being a non-formal dance. The dance this year was definitely a hit as well as a blast. ASB did an amazing job putting it together and making everyone at MBHS have an amazing night.
