Winter Formal Spirit Week
by Ava Schmidt
December 16, 2024In the week leading up to the Winter Formal, ASB organized a spirited week to create high spirits for the upcoming Winter Formal. The festivities kicked off on Tuesday, Dec. 3 with Pajama Day, where students showcased festive Christmas pajamas, from classic flannel to onesies. The hallways transform into a cozy atmosphere. As many accessorized with fuzzy slippers and other Christmas-themed accessories, many just opted for festive pajamas. Pajama Day set a positive tone for the week, reminding everyone of the importance of school spirit as they looked forward to the rest of the week.
The next day, Wednesday, Dec. 4, students showed up at school in their ugliest sweaters. Some chose the most ridiculous and funny holiday sweaters they could find. The atmosphere was filled with joy and laughter as students took pictures for the yearbook, proudly displaying their ugly sweaters.
On Thursday, Dec. 5, the theme changed to Winter Wonderland, featuring a white-out day. Students showed up in all white outfits, sporting everything from comfy sweaters to winter accessories, such as snowflake earrings, bringing a festive winter vibe to spirit week. Additionally, there was a pep rally for Winter Formal, winter sports, and any other upcoming events.
On Friday, Dec. 6, the day of the Winter Formal, it was officially flannel Friday. Students showed up in their flannel shirts, and some of them even had coordinated outfits with their friends. The flannel designs varied from the traditional red and black to more vibrant and creative mixes.
A lot of students had a great time during spirit week, and freshman Talia Rodgers shared her thoughts, saying, “I like how it is festive to the season and how we got to wear pajamas.” She went on to explain that she thinks it’s great because it builds up the excitement for winter formal. Rodgers is just one of many who felt that spirit week added a fun and festive vibe, making the formal even more exciting.
