Zendaya and Tom Holland: A Golden Engagement
On Jan. 8th, the anticipated Golden Globe awards were held at the Beverly Hilton. Many celebrities made a stunning appearance on the red carpet, but Zendaya in particular, arrived strutting in a particular piece of jewelry that caught the eye of anyone who took a look at her left ring finger. A 5.02 carat diamond that sparked speculation of a certain question was popped over the holidays. Fans were quick to speculate online, and news outlets weren’t indifferent to them either.
Just a few days later, TMZ confirmed that Zendaya and Tom Holland are officially engaged. Holland proposed in between Christmas and New Years in one of Zendaya’s family homes. The moment was romantic and sweet, being shared only between the two “Spider-Man” stars. By New Years, the pair had shared the news with family and friends. Not long after, the overwhelming support of fans poured onto the internet.
Zendaya and Holland both starred in the past three “Spider-man” movies alongside each other, playing “MJ” and “Peter Parker,” coincidently each other’s love interests. The two leads of the “Spider-Man” films continuing their romance off screen was nothing new. Since the “Spider-Man” movies of the early 2000s, starring Toby Miguire, and Kristen Dunst, this started a trend of future “Spider-Man” co-stars falling for each other. In the early 2010s, the second Spider-Man franchise, “The Amazing Spider-Man” came out, with the leading stars, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone playing Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker, following the same footsteps as the previous franchise before them. However, both pairs inevitably did go their separate ways but they do still keep in touch.
Dating rumors between the most recent franchise of Spider-Man’s movie leading stars, started before the first movie was even released. It turned out to be nothing more than fans shipping the two together, due to their amazing chemistry and all around likeness when the two were out promoting the movie together. Both Holland and Zendaya were in their own respective relationships at the time of 2017, and eventually the longing for the pair to be a real item did die down, but was never truly gone. In 2021 it was in fact confirmed by the pair of their sweet and private romance when Holland shared a photo of Zendaya for her birthday, and called her “My MJ.” Not long after, paparazzi released photos of the pair further showing the world how happy they are to have each other.
Now, almost four years later after the two told the world, they have now told each other that they truly intend to love each other forever. Holland reportedly, “Always knew she was the one,” and finally found the perfect time to make that clear not only to her, but to everyone around them. Friends and fans both wish nothing more than happy returns to a truly happy couple.
