MBHS Welcomes New Teacher, Ms. Padayachee, With Open Arms
Faye Padayachee is MBHS’ new freshman English and AVID teacher. Padayachee was originally born in Lake Tahoe and when she was two years old, she and her family moved to Morro Bay. Before Padayachee came to MBHS, she worked at Los Osos Middle school for three years. However, that was not the start of her career.
Padayachee’s teaching career has been going for 24 strong years. It began when she was 24 years old. She attended Humboldt State in Northern California. She was there for three years and then went to live in Zimbabwe for a year and a half. She made this choice so she could make her own independent study, where she designed her own classes. She later returned and finished her degree the following semester.
When asked what her favorite subjects and grades to teach are, she said, “I really love all the subjects I teach, and I think my specialty, I would say, is in history. History is about getting that knowledge and those analytical skills that we need to think critically about things for how they show up in the world.”
She also said that she loves both English and AVID. She described English, saying, “English is about language and words, and making those languages and words be a tool for us.” She described her AVID class, saying, “I love that AVID is purposeful, so I love
that aspect of AVID. Like we are moving together toward a united goal. I think that's really cool.”
Besides being a teacher, Padayachee has other interests. She enjoys trail running and baking. She likes being back in the community where she grew up in and most recently she's been enjoying gardening. She also has two daughters, 14 and 12. Padayachee is a well spoken woman who is very considerate and understanding. She seems to be very excited for the years to come at MBHS.
