Scarlett Witters
When freshman Amelie Geoffory, a teammate of freshman Scarlett Witters, was asked to describe Witters, she said, “strong, honest, and loud.” If you asked anyone to describe Witters, they would most likely say the same thing. Witters pushes herself to be the strongest one in the room, she’s the most honest person you can find, and she can definitely get loud when things get out of hand.
Witters is originally from Washington D.C. and lived there until the age of 2 and spent the rest of her life living here in California. Witters is one of the captains for the freshman-sophomore (frosh) volleyball team alongside freshmen Lola Weber as the other captain. When asked about how she felt when she was elected to be one of the captains, Witters said, “I felt really good that my peers on the team trusted me to lead the team to victory and my thoughts were probably thinking ahead about the season and how I would be able to help out the team.”
On the frosh team, Witters plays the position as one of the main setters. When asked about if she likes her position and thoughts on the other positions, she said, “I like my position as a setter but if I don't grow and stop growing then I'll probably transition to being a libero.” As captain, Witters hopes to bring more communication and have the team work together better than they already do now. Witters' history with volleyball goes way back to the sixth grade. During that time she was taught all her skills by one of her favorite coaches, Coach Coy.
Although volleyball is a big part of Witters' life, she has many more interests. A few of her favorite things range from pop and rap music, homemade mac and cheese, art, and science. Witters is very focused on her academics and once she is out of highschool, she plans on going to college where she would possibly play volleyball and get a degree for education to become a teacher. When Witters was asked how she sees her next four years of highschool going, she said, “If I keep going the way I'm going, it's only gonna to go up from here.” Witters is a captain, a hard worker, and a girl with much success for the future ahead of her.
