Every spring, the boys golf season commences and the students on the team are nothing short of hard working to show what their team is capable of. This year, both the varsity and junior varsity teams have done an extraordinarily exceptional job this season. From their practices to their tournaments, the boys gave nothing but their all every time. Both teams combined had a total of 33 boys, with eight on varsity and 25 on junior varsity. There have been over a dozen tournaments during this spring season, and the team excelled to the best of their abilities every time.
Senior and co-captain Nate Landwehr said this about the season, “The season has gone pretty well. We’re currently second in the league which is good especially when we were missing half of the team for our last tournament.” Jonas Smith, who is also a senior and co-captain, said, “The season has been pretty good for the team. We are currently ranked second in our league even though we had only half of our team available for our first tournament.” This team is shown to be able to work quickly on their feet, and represent the team as they truly are, even when they have unprecedented setbacks.
In their most recent tournament, multiple players scored very well. Junior Stone Hawk had a score of 76, senior Reno Hallmeyer had a score of 88, and Smith had a score of 75. The course par is 71 for the Morro Bay golf course. The next tournament they have is on April 28 at UMission club in Vandenburg. Following that, they have league finals in Atascadero, and lastly finishing up with CIF in Tulare.
The school couldn’t be more proud of all the team’s hard work. The amount of energy and time put into the sport by all of these boys shows their true dedication and hard working ethic. Their coaches have truly helped these kids go far and it is reflected in their progress as well. While the team will dearly miss their seniors, it is exciting to see what the team has in store for next year and what the future freshmen will bring to the team.
