Through the winter sports season, the Morro Bay High School Girls Wrestling team made it to the Masters tournament on February 16th, 2024. This marked an amazing and pivotal achievement in their season.

As an outsider looking in, this wrestling season came with a rollercoaster of emotions, as well as unforgettable memories that highlighted their season and commitment to the sport. These athletes were determined in their pursuit of success, putting in a lot of work before, after and during school, whether it was practicing, training, or competing. Their commitment to success and perseverance paid off and got them to celebrate many victories together.

After a long and competitive season, Ashliegh Terry, Ahlexis Terry, Ayten Elbarbary, and Chelsea Catalan showcased their abilities at the Masters Tournament and all placed 5th in their respective weight classes. Unfortunately, the girls needed to place at least 4th to qualify for state.

Ayten Elbarbary is a leader in her team as the only senior in the girls division, and has had some pretty good matches this season with a record of 29 matches won and 19 losses. Alexis Terry has had 17 amazing wins and only 8 losses, Chelsea Catalan has had 32 wins and 20 losses, and Ashliegh Terry has had 28 wins and 19 losses. This is an impressive win to loss ratio. With every win or loss, the girls walked away with memories and high hopes for next year's season.

Despite falling just short of qualifying for the state championships, getting to the Masters tournament was a significant accomplishment for the MBHS Girls Wrestling Team. Another shout out to Chealsea, Ashliegh, Alexis, and Ayten for bringing great wins and great attitudes through all the highs and lows. They carry memories and a new sense of optimism for the years to come, showing the true spirit of Morro Bay High School.
