Cynder Abbott
By Ysabel Garza
Cynder Abbott is a kind, shy student at Morro Bay High School. Originally from Florence Alabama, Cynder moved to California when she was very young, currently living with her Uncle, Mom, Dad, 2 younger siblings and her dog, cat and bunny.
When asked about what she was like when she was younger, she described herself as family and friend oriented, energetic, and confident, saying, “Nothing you could say could phase me.. I used to talk to anyone about anything.” and when asked what her younger self would say if she could see her now, she responded, “confused, but excited that I still have some of the same qualities I used to, like my love for animals and the people around me.” She still expresses the same love for her relationships, explaining that they’re what’s most important to her, and describing meeting her boyfriend 3 years ago as monumental, “He’s made me such a better person, he has taught me to be open minded and find the good in little things and life.”
Everybody has a role model, someone to look up to, and Cynder hopes that in the future she can be the kind of person people can look up to as a good example or mentor. She lives by the phrase, “You can’t judge a book by its cover.” The phrase is important to her because you never know what’s going on behind closed doors.
She was in eighth grade when quarantine started, having just moved to Los Osos, her time to make friends was cut short, and she thinks it's one of the reasons she’s much shyer than she was when she was younger. But putting quarantine behind her, she hopes that this year she'll be able to maintain good grades, and keep up on her school work, focusing on her goal of studying psychology in college and hopefully work in therapy or something similar.
If anything was clear to me when interviewing and writing an article on Cynder Abbott, it was her caring personality towards her relationships, mentioning them multiple times with great fondness.
She’s on the shy side, but even though I’ve only known her for about a week I can say she’s one of the nicest people I’ve ever worked with.
