Powder Puff practices started on Tuesday, Oct. 1 this year. They continued for one week, ending on the next Tuesday, the day before the games. Powder Puff is something many girls look forward to. “Honestly, Powder Puff is one of the main reasons I was so excited for high school,” said freshman Talia Rodgers. Powder Puff is a sport that girls from every grade can participate and have fun in.

On Oct. 9, the freshmen took the win with a close 13-12 after a fierce contest against the sophomores. After, in the junior and senior game, the seniors kept their undefeated reputation with a 31-20 victory.

The freshman and sophomore started off with the freshman in the lead. The first touchdown was a handoff to a 70 yard run down the field and into the end zone. Olivia Moreno then kicked the ball through the goalposts for an extra point. Shortly after, the sophomores caught up with a short pass and a touchdown by Taylen Robson. Freshmen later took the lead with a catch and run by Faith Racine. After many flags were pulled, sophomore Parker Brigham intercepted the ball and ran it down the field, making the score 12-13. The game ended soon after with freshmen ultimately victorious.

Next, it was time for the junior and senior game. The seniors have never been beaten and definitely were not planning on changing that. The touchdowns from the seniors came from Emily Giordano and Mia Bennett, making amazing runs and catches into the endzone. On the junior team, Juliana Kong and Zoe Fitzwater contributed to the touchdowns. Although the game was a nail-biter and super close, the seniors eventually kept their winning streak with a 31-20 win.

The MVPs of 2024 Powder Puff were sophomore Taylen Robson, sophomore Parker Brigham, freshman Gabby Taylor, junior Juliana Kong, junior Zoe Fitzwater, junior Ashley Beltrama, junior Violet Pace, and senior Emily Giordano. All in all, this year’s Powder Puff games were really entertaining and everyone saw great things from both the players and the coaches.
