May 19, 2025As the end of the 2024-2025 school year is quickly approaching, all of the MBHS sports have almost completed, with very few still going on. Overall this year, the student athletes of MBHS have had amazing accomplishments, such as girls water polo winning CIF, and baseball being the first undefeated league champions in MBHS history. The rest of the fall, winter, and spring sports teams have enjoyed their season, such as, girls golf, cross country, football, girls volleyball, girls water polo, boys water polo, girls tennis, girls and boys soccer, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls wrestling, track and field, boys baseball, girls softball, girls beach volleyball, boys volleyball, stunt cheer, boys and girls swim, boys golf, boys tennis, and dive.
“I really enjoyed being a part of two school sports teams, and I really love going to away games and playing with my friends,” sophomore Emily Cordes said. This year, there have been many school records broken by sophomores Shelby Taylor and Wendy Wilson. “I still can’t believe that I am still getting faster and faster, I really love my team and running in general,” Taylor said. “I can’t wait for more years to come.”
“I am so happy to be able to travel to Greece this summer with water polo, I really enjoy playing the sport.” said senior Kirra Doherty. “I love my team and I am so excited to be in Greece with them before I have to leave for college.” Currently, girls water polo is fundraising to be able to go to Greece to compete, and they have been doing different fundraisers to get the amount of money they need such as clothing swaps and showing the 2008 “Mamma Mia” movie at the Bay Theater.
“I am so happy that my team has made it undefeated this year, and I am so excited for next year,” sophomore Jack Devolet said. This season, baseball has been undefeated and are ecstatic that they won their league finals. All of the team members are excited to be undefeated for the first time in MBHS history.
There are about 23 sports at MBHS, and each one of them has had such an amazing season. Many of the teams are excited for the next season, and are excited to see more incoming freshmen join their teams. As the year comes to a close, many of the teams are sad to see their seniors leave and go to their colleges, but they are still excited for the next season.
