As fall sports are coming to a close the girl’s varsity tennis team is preparing for CIF and just finished with ocean league finals. “We got to spend a whole day in Nipomo (7:15 am to 8:30 pm) playing rounds of tennis to qualify for CIF. It was a pretty fun day and we all had a great time both playing tennis but also having fun and goofing around,” said varsity tennis player Maggie Appel when asked how the tournament went.

Two doubles teams made it to individual CIF as well as the team CIF, Abby Ryan and her partner Maggie Appel, and Elsey Ruane and her partner Emily Cordes. The matches will be played at San Luis Obispo High School on November 10th and the girls are both excited and nervous. When asked about her thoughts on the upcoming matches Maggie said “In individual CIF, the girls we will be competing against will be above our league.” This will pose a challenge for the Morro Bay girls as this means they will be competing against some pretty tough opponents.

As the team gets ready for team and individual CIFs they can’t help but reminisce about the season with their beloved seniors. “All of our seniors have been really fun and encouraging to play with, we will all miss them so much next year,” says Appel. A lot of the younger players on this team really looked up to these seniors and are very proud of each one as they take on the next journey in their lives.
