Delilah Alderete

Considerate, understanding, and honest. That's how others would describe freshman Delilah Alderete.  Alderete would describe herself as “not like a quiet kid but a quiet kid.” She is the person you would describe as a role model for others and an example of who you should be in school.

Alderete has classes that range from honors geometry and Spanish 1, to engineering. She has always been a straight A student and very focused on her education. When asked about why she is so focused on her education and grades, she said “I want to succeed in life and give my best to my assignments.”

Once Alderete graduates and is off from high school she plans on taking a gap year and then going to college. During her gap year she would like to travel as much as she can, specifically she would like to go out of the country, specifically Europe. The college she wants to go to is still in the works of being decided, but she knows which career she would like to choose. Alderete would like and enjoy being in the practice of law, becoming a doctor, or a being therapist. When asked Alderete why she’s interested in these paths she said, “My entire life I have been told I have to be in a career that pays good money, and I would like to go into a career that I actually enjoy that does pay a good fee.”

Although Alderete has so many good things to come for her, like most teenagers she has had her struggles. These struggles started around age 8 due to family problems. From that point on, she's been struggling with different problems and had troubles with her mental health. Recently, Alderete has been doing much better with both her struggles and mental health. She is very vocal about her experience with her struggles. She’s talked about the effects and issues of it. When Alderete is asked how she handled and tolerated these experiences she said, “I knew that it wouldn’t last forever and I could get past it."

Alderete said, “I've learned from my past and I'm ready to move on and grow.” Alderete’s past is a big part of knowing her story, but that does not define who she is. She is a girl with much potential and success coming her way in life.
