Maddison Day

When Sean Tomlinson, Maddison’s boyfriend, was asked to describe senior Maddison Day in three words, he said, “Perseverant, confident, and kind.”  Other than just being a part of the Journalism class, Day is a part of the school’s yearbook committee. She also loves to be very active and has an appreciation for nature and the community around her. When asked about her motivation for going outside she said, “My friends and my family are strong believers in going outside and interacting with nature.” She loves student life around campus and the culture and community the school has created with its students and has a growing interest in it. She especially admires her best friend Isa Rojas, who is a part of the cheerleading team, and the amazing sport that cheerleading is.

With Day being in her final year of high school there's always an incentive for others to ask, “What are your plans after high school?” However, she still has goals she has set for herself until then including joining the honor roll  and earning a solid GPA to graduate with. When asked about her motivation to do so she said, “I was on honor roll for my freshman and sophomore year, but I wasn't last year so I'm trying to get back on that track.”

Focusing away from academics though, it is always important to remember about personal growth. Senior year can be tough academically already, but personal growth goals you set for yourself are just as important. When asked about what she wants for her own personal goals for her final school year she said, “Try and be a better person overall, and try to be more empathetic and caring to others around me.”

As for her after her senior year, Day plans to attend Cuesta College for 2 years before transferring to either UCSB or UCSD and majoring in psychology. Day is a kind soul with a bright future ahead of her and the words chosen to describe her are more than notable. It really reflects who she is as a person now and who she hopes to become in the future. Her interests aren't only on campus, but she has a love for what is around her as well and makes an effort to appreciate it. Her perseverance and determination will certainly help her achieve her goals, not only this year but for her future life after high school.
