Nate Landwehr
Senior Nate Landwehr has made some amazing contributions at MBHS and will continue to do so this year. Holding leadership roles in both ASB and the boy’s golf team, as well as taking advantage of community service opportunities in the county, he serves as a positive example of an involved student at MBHS.
On top of his extracurricular activities, Landwehr also spends a great deal of time focusing on his school work and academic excellence. In the past, he sacrificed other aspects of his life simply to excel in school, whereas recently, he realized that it’s not the time spent on assignments and studying, but the study techniques that are important.
Giving a special shout out to teachers Laura Van Zee and Erik Jones, Landwehr said, “As much as I hate to admit it, notecards have helped my memorization greatly.” As many other students feel, he doesn’t love the excess amount of notecards required for each unit studied in class, but he is grateful for the additional skill in his studying tool belt.
After high school, Landwehr hopes to attend Cuesta College and utilize the free two years of tuition offered by the Cuesta Promise. Afterwards, he plans to transfer to a four year university and major in business or marketing. Clearly, the time Landwehr dedicates to the current education in his life is laying a great foundation for his future.
“You can have family by choice and find qualities you like in them and adapt those qualities into your life,” he claims.
Looking further into his future, he hopes to build a family and have a career that allows him to spend time at home and watch his hypothetical children grow. This ideal future of Landwehr’s seems to stem from the childhood that he experienced. With a stay at home mother, a father regularly home on the weekends, and an older sister, he was constantly surrounded by family and adored growing up so close to them.
Although Landwehr believes blood relation is a decent definition of family, he also finds it to be true that family can be found in others that he surrounds himself with. Constantly surrounded by people and responsibilities, Landwehr found it important to find a peaceful outlet to allow him time to relax. The outlet that immediately infused his every thought after his first experience with it, was golf.
During fall of 2021, Landwehr picked up a golf club inside of a DICKS Sporting Goods, took one swing, and knew he had found his way of escaping reality. Appreciating the sport for its ease and nature filled courses, Landwehr made it clear that he is especially interested in the sport because he sees continual growth each time he practices or plays in a match.
Nate Landwehr is happy with where he is in the present, especially living in Morro Bay: “The lifestyle here is very nice… everything is happening as it needs to be and as it should.” With his positive outlook and determined nature, it’s clear that he will be successful in any city and through the hardships guaranteed by life.
